The world of aerospace meets at the Politecnico

26 October 2021

For a few weeks, the Politecnico becomes the European center of training in the aerospace sector. In fact, the second phase of the Aerospace Business Integration (ABI) course, organized by ECATA (European Consortium for Advanced Training in Aerospace), is currently ongoing at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering-DIMEAS. The Politecnico is a member of ECATA together with other prestigious universities (Cranfield, ETSIAE Madrid, ISAE Supaero Toulouse, KTH Stockholm, TU Delft and TU Munich) and the major aerospace companies in Europe (Airbus, BAE Systems, Dassault Aviation, Leonardo, SAAB, SAFRAN, Liebherr and MTU).

Each year, the consortium offers this training experience for global aerospace companies that want to improve the leadership skills of their future program directors. The ABI course offers training opportunities specifically dedicated to future leaders of aerospace companies and is hosted by three consortium member universities for a total duration of 10 weeks.

Politecnico has been a member of ECATA since 2015 and has already hosted different phases of the course three times, and in these very weeks, it is hosting at DIMEAS the 16 delegates from the consortium companies who attend the classes and work together on the "Multinational Team Project", the pivotal project of the training course. The objective this year is to investigate and propose possible solutions to apply models of "Inbound Open Innovation"in the aeronautical field. The activity offers the participants the opportunity to develop teamwork and leadership skills, as well as experience innovative methods of program management.
