The European Commission acknowledged Politecnico’s actions in the field of sustainability among the “Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Green Charter - Guidance Material”, the EC guide aimed at supporting researchers and institutions for the application of the MSCA Green Charter, which provides a series of principles and objectives to enhance the sustainability of research, in line with the European Green Deal, the 2030 UN Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The guide is aimed at collecting the good practices of Universities and research centres in order to design models to reduce the environmental footprint of research projects, enhancing the awareness on environmental sustainability and promoting the sustainable management of research activities.
The MSCA Green Charter is addressed to all beneficiaries of MSCA funding, whether researchers or institutions, called to observe as many of its provisions as possible during their research projects.
The European Commission examined PoliTO’s actions for sustainability after CESAER’s – an association gathering the main European Universities in the fields of science and technology – request to collect institutional good practices and contributions in order to design a series of guidelines for the application of the MSCA Green Charter. The Green Team and Research Area of the Politecnico complied CESAER’s request.
Most notably, the Politecnico was noted because of Green Team’s presence and its role in the definition of PoliTO’s actions, other than for its Sustainable Mobility and Transport Policy on the promotion of sustainable mobility among students and staff.

In the run-up to the COP26, we are increasingly moved to work to the realization of the sustainable development goals, addressing the environmental sustainability and social inclusion principles during research, teaching and training activities, other than third mission and all actions addressing the local community”.
