Politecnico di Torino at ‘Skills for the Future: Managing Transition’

“Professional Education world and Technical Universities have many contact points:  they both aim to educate and train those people who will be able to employ the technology knowledge in the world. Being partner in this event – explains the Politecnico di Torino Rector Guido Saracco –will represent an opportunity to share views with analysts and policy makers about the best way to train the new generations for future jobs with the objective to understand and anticipate the future development scenarios and plan the actions aimed at interpreting the new manufacturing and social needs”.

Politecnico Di Torino participates in the event ‘Skills for the Future: Managing Transition’ organized by ETF European Training Foundation at the OGR bringing its contribution about higher education with two initiatives presented into the exhibition area. The two projects are related to competences needed by researchers and students to be ready for the job market in the next years.

The first experience, introduced through a video and by the presence of researchers at the stand in the “Experience Path” of the Skills4theFuture conference, is related to training through research. Politecnico willdisplay six Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (MSCA-ITN) supporting joint research training and doctoral programmes, implemented by European partnerships of universities, research institutions, and non-academic organisations. The MSCA-ITN aim to equip researchers with the necessary skills and international experience for a successful career, while developing highly innovative research. Early stage researchers can benefit of inter-sectoral exchange between  academia and the industrial sector, transnational and interdisciplinary mobility.

The second theme presented to the “Experience Path” will be Career guidance and soft skills training for students and researchers at Politecnico di Torino. Four initiatives of the university will be displayed. They concern Career guidance for master students and support to the career development of researchers. Moreover, Politecnico di Torino students develop skills and competences during their career through various activities such as students team participation, labs and workshops, part-time work in the university, stage and/or final study projects in industries, specific initiatives for talented students (Progetto Giovani Talenti e Alta Scuola Politecnica).
